Addressing burnout in higher ed
Helping campuses build sustainable, human‑centered academic cultures through research‑informed keynotes, engaging workshops, and tailored leadership development using an appreciative lens.

Changing Culture
Faculty burnout is reshaping higher education, and leaders are searching for clarity, compassion, and actionable solutions. Rebecca helps institutions recognize burnout early, support faculty vitality, and cultivate leadership practices that sustain both people and culture.
As a burnout expert, author, facilitator, and faculty developer, Rebecca brings research, lived experience, and a national perspective to every keynote, workshop, and consulting engagement.
Her work is grounded Appreciative Inquiry — a strengths‑based approach to leadership and culture change that helps campuses build on what’s working to create sustainable, compassionate environments.
About Rebecca
I’m Rebecca Pope‑Ruark, PhD, author of Frayed: Leadership Burnout Among Women in Higher Ed and Unraveling Faculty Burnout: Pathways to Reckoning and Renewal and a national voice on faculty burnout, compassionate leadership, and culture change in higher education.
My work centers on helping campuses create sustainable academic cultures where faculty and leaders can thrive. Through keynotes, workshops, and consulting, I partner with institutions to build clarity, compassion, and capacity for meaningful change. I use Appreciative Inquiry to help leadership teams identify strengths, clarify values, and co‑create sustainable practices that support faculty vitality.
